I’m not good enough. It’s a fact. I’ve never been good enough but it’s not me that thinks that. It’s my in-laws and it hurts. They’ve thought it since day one and there is nothing I can do about it. I know I shouldn’t care or take it to heart but I do.

I’m a nice person, I come from a lovely family, I went to good schools and I work really hard. Still, it doesn’t matter. I gave up my career to nurture our children, I’m a good mum, wife and a great friend but still, it doesn’t matter. I’ve tried to change it, I’ve gone out of

my way to be what they want but nothing changes it. Nothing. They just don’t like me.

Everyone tells me to ignore it and for 15 years I’ve tried but it’s hard. How do you ignore the elephant in the room when you see them all the time?

I don’t remember Cinderella having these problems, or Belle or Ariel. Yet I’m sure many people do. You married for love and not for family or status. You married for all the right reasons.

It’s something we should talk about more and be more open about. If you feel the same, know you’re not alone.
